So I got creative,
after the posts about the Roman Column and the Roman Board, and seeing Sig Klein hyper extending on the Roman Board, I sat down on my bench and pad in hand, started designing how I would build a Roman Board. Then I looked up and saw my Lat/Row Machine. It is exactly the same as this one someone is selling on CL:
If you notice the foot plate for the cable row, it has a separation between the feet. Putting belts around each to hold down my with the plate in the down position, as pictured, was half the problem. Then, on the center column, just where the extension that hold the leg pads is, I'll wrap a chain around the center column, and use a spring clip link to hold it just at the top of the extension, with a foot or so of chain hanging down on each side. To the chains I'll connect a couple of Aboriginal slings to put around my calves. With that, I think I'm going to have the moral equivalent of a Roman Board. And the bones of it were sitting there looking at me for years!
I'll put enough weight on the machine, to counter balance my weight. And I'm thinking that I'll hang a chain from the lat connection, to ease into learning the exercises for Roman Board. I'm pretty sure I can do the Roman Chair
exercise, but initially, I'll need a bit of help on big lever moves, such as Sig Klein was doing. I'm a head taller than him, with a long torso, so that might be a tad difficult to begin with.
